Emergent Fund 2020

Update (March 16, 2020):

WDN is helping the Emergent Fund raise $1 million to support frontline organizations facing the current COVID-19 crisis.

Let's challenge ourselves to raise at least half of that through WDN. We know we can do it.

WDN co-founded the Emergent Fund with Solidaire Network right after the 2016 elections to help move quick resources with no strings attached to communities that were and continue to be under attack by federal policies and priorities – immigrants, women, Muslim and Arab-American communities, Black people, Indigenous communities, LGBTQ communities, and all people of color. These communities need increased capacity so they can respond, act nimbly, and develop new strategies in this new period.

The Fund focuses on grassroots organizing and power building in communities of color that are facing injustice based on racial, ethnic, religious and other forms of discrimination. We provide resources to defend against the ongoing crisis, and to develop innovative strategies to transform our country. The Fund is governed by an Advisory Council made up of leaders who represent the communities the Fund is designed to serve.

In 2020, our original goal was to raise $1.5 million or more for the Emergent Fund from WDN members. Now, with the COVID-19 crisis, we are feeling even more urgency to move money quickly and with your help we want to raise $500,000 right now to get it to the communities who need it most. 100% of your contribution will go to grants made through the Emergent Fund.
